Penhall Company Precision Saves 3 Million Pounds of Materials
|
The Project:
Located in the Port of Seattle, SeaTac Airport went out to bid on a massive runway reconstruction project that required saw-cutting of over 60,000 lineal feet of 20" deep concrete within 24 shifts and 171,000 square yards of transverse grooving completed in 10 shifts. Penhall Company won the contract. The Challenge:
Penhall Company's Pavement Services Northwest Divisions 22 & 23 were tasked with grooving and sawing some of the hardest aggregate in the country, requiring multiple mass equipment move-ins of short duration. Competing bidders said the job couldn't be done in those timeframes. The Result:
With the most expert sawing and grooving team in the Pacific Northwest — bringing over 80 years of combined experience — we carefully planned out each week's workload and secured the necessary equipment to meet the task. Operating 12 meticulously maintained saw machines, 2 vac trailers, 2 transverse groovers and 2 recirculation trailers for each move in, we kept up with equipment demand and grooved and sawed the aggregate in record time. Our proactive project planning, stringent safety standards, and well-maintained equipment operated by experienced people allowed us to meet the difficult schedule, complete the project, and get the job done.
