Concrete Scanning on CMU wall to avoid obstructions

For a high school in Priceville, AL, Penhall was asked to come and perform concrete scanning on CMU wall.  This was done to ensure that there were no obstructions in the walls prior to hand sawing a 400’ x 2” opening.

Locating electrical wires within a concrete slab

At a location in Florence, AL, Penhall was asked to scan an area of about 10’ x 22’ to locate and mark any electrical wires that may be present within a concrete slab.  This was needed to ensure that the wires were avoided when cutting or drilling into the slab.

Finding rebar, post tension cable, and conduit using GPR

Penhall was asked to scan at a nursing home in Scottsboro, AL.  We used GPR and scanned two 2’ x 2’ areas of concrete slab to locate the post-tension cable, rebar, and conduit.

At a university campus in Alabama, Penhall performed a vast number of core drills (approximate 40 holes) ranging from 2” to 5” in diameter.   It was necessary for us to scan at least 14 locations to ensure that any hazards were avoided when drilling.
