Find utilities with concrete scanning
A hotel and casino in Vicksburg is currently going through renovations. They need to add two new utility lines. These lines will run through the slab from the second floor through the roof. The customer didn’t want to cut through an existing service line and inconvenience their guests. The contractor called their trusted Penhall Technologies analyst to scan the slab to prevent that. The scan took place over the course of two days, and once again the customer was very pleased with the care and expertise the analyst provided.
Concrete scanning for remodeling projects
A supermarket in the Ocean Springs area has been remodeled several times since its original opening date. Older supermarkets present unique challenges to remodeling contractors. They have vast amount of utilities running under and inside the concrete slab. Moreover, the prints and as-builts were no longer very useful. This particular supermarket trusted Penhall Technologies to find all utilities and hazards in the concrete. This project occurred at night, since the store was open during business hours. The analyst identified a grade beam quickly and effectively. He also found conduits and the freon lines. Cutting these hazards could have been catastrophic to the morning deadline. By scanning first, this afforded the customer time to create a more suitable plan.
Scan concrete flooring to locate rebar, tension cables, and conduit
Penhall scanned for a sporting goods store in Biloxi. Our analyst used ground penetrating radar to locate and mark any obstructions in the concrete flooring. He found objects such as rebar, post-tension cable, or conduit.
Locate conduit in concrete using GPR
Penhall performed GPR scanning at a shopping center in Gulfport, MS. Our analyst scanned one area of approximately 3’ x 10’. Then, he marked the conduit within the concrete. The client scanned before cutting and removing two slab openings.
Ground penetrating radar used on scaffolding before core drilling for installing electrical
Recently, Penhall performed concrete scanning services for NASA’s Stennis Space Center. The client wanted to core drill eight 6″ holes to install some electrical conduit for the building. We used ground penetrating radar to scan 2 areas of 1′ x 3′ on scaffolding.
Concrete scanning on post tension slab to locate cables and rebar
At a hotel and casino in Biloxi, Penhall performed some concrete scanning and core drilling on four areas on two floors. It was necessary to scan first to ensure that there were no obstructions when core drilling 9” holes at 9” deep.
