GPR scanning locates hazards before anchoring into concrete

Penhall Technologies was hired for concrete scanning services at a power plant in Champaign, Illinois. The contractor was in the process of installing new pumps and he needed to anchor them to the floor. The main reason for scanning was that the contractor was unsure of what hazards might be in play. Also, he wanted to make sure that there was enough concrete to support the anchors. The analyst used the Mini XT to scan the concrete. The analyst was able to find steel beams that prevented the contractor from drilling deep enough to anchor the pumps. Upon further scanning, the analyst found steel patch plates under the tile, which would also be disruptive during drilling. After examining the results, the contractor decided to adjust the position of the pumps to miss the steel. This allowed him to get the depth he needed to safely anchor the pumps and to complete his project successfully.

Scanning concrete slab to locate and mark rebar and conduitPenhall Technologies was asked to do concrete scanning services at four areas of a basement at a location in Peoria, IL.  One 20’ x 1’ area, two 2’x1’ area, and one 4’ x 4’ area. The purpose of the scan was to look for and identify rebar and conduit in the concrete. After scanning, our GPR analyst marked all obstructions found.

Locate plumbing lines in concretePenhall Technologies was asked to perform concrete scanning services. The location was a 4-star hotel in Springfield, IL. Once our GPR analysts arrived on site, the client asked them to locate plumbing in the lobby registration area. The scanning was done in preparation for some deep core drilling in four areas.
