GPR used in private residence to locate a leaking pipe

Recently, a private homeowner hired Penhall Technologies to scan his driveway to map out the extents of a void he’d discovered. The homeowner needed to have as much information as possible in order to decide how best to solve this issue. Our Dallas based analyst was able to use a GSSI Mini XT to quickly establish and mark the extents of the void, and identify the leaking pipe that was causing it.  This kept the homeowner from having to remove more of the driveway slab than was absolutely necessary, thus saving time and money.  The project goes to show that no job is too big, or too small for Penhall Technologies to complete.

The client requested for the analyst to use ground penetrating radar (GPR) to scan nine 3′ x3′ areas along the ceiling of the building. This is no impediment for the analyst, and he used the GSSI mini XT to complete this job and located the electrical conduit suspected to be in the concrete. The nine areas were properly marked.

Once the analyst arrived on site, he performed a concrete scanning service of three areas for openings. The areas consisted of measurements of 8′ x 8′ x 8”, 10′ x 20′, and 10’x 25′ x 8″. Additionally, a 5′ x 5′ x 6″ thick area was scanned on a gym floor. The client was trying to confirm if the pattern on the floor was post tension cable. After scanning, the post tension cable that was found was marked with chalk.

Sometimes, a request to perform concrete scanning in a different state comes in. This is not a problem for our analysts, and they always give their best to make sure that the scanning service is done in a timely and accurate manner.  This project was no exception. After arriving on site, the analysts used GPR to thoroughly scan the area. They located conduit on the concrete slab.
