Hilo Concrete Scanning Projects that Penhall Technologies Has Worked On
Scan concrete before plumbing work
We received a request for GPR scanning at a medical facility. The contractor required a GPR scan of (15) locations on elevated concrete slab. He was planning to core holes of different sizes for new plumbing and conduits. The client wanted to stay clear from drilling into any existing conduits. This would prevent slurry from spilling into the new conduits, since their routes were unknown. There was a separate room with (4) locations that the analyst scanned with a MINI XT. He located multiple PVC, metal pipes, conduits and PT cables apparent in the 10” slab. After reviewing the data, the contractor proposed to develop a new layout before coring with the structural engineer. Our Hawaii field office will ensure that you have the right data and tools to complete your mission.
GPR scanning along the side of the bridge
Penhall Technologies received a request for GPR scanning on the side of a bridge. The contractor required a GPR scan of (14) 3’x3’ areas along the side of a bridge, before drilling 5” anchors to mount a new pipe. The analysts had to make sure that there wast any rebar or any other embedded objects for the proposed mounted pipe. Since the scanning was taking place on the side of the bridge, the analysts completed a risk assessment and ensured that they had the correct fall protection equipment required. Once safety measures were all in place, they proceeded to scan each location while 12’ above water.
After scanning each location, the data showed that certain layouts showed rebar. The analysts advised the contractor to stay clear from their marks. The contractor was confident with drilling his anchors after observing the analysts’ communication and interpretation of the data to him.
