Ground penetrating radar locates private utilities
An elementary school in Downey, California looked to Penhall Technologies to perform a private utility locate in preparation for utility upgrades. The customer was going to excavate an area next to the school to reroute sewer, power, and water lines. The client had public utility locating done, but they needed one more area scanned to make sure there weren’t any major private utility lines running through the proposed area of excavation. The client knew that there was a major water line running right through the middle of the excavation area, and the analyst was able to find it and traced the line directly back to the water valve itself. Other objects were also found with GPR and were marked accordingly. The customer was pleased that all the utility lines plus more were found in the area. This enabled the client to avoid any accidents, injuries or serious damage to the utility lines.
Private Utility Locate on a residential property in Katy, TX in preparation for excavation
Houston analyst, Jacob, was called to perform a private utility locate at a residence in Katy, TX. The homeowner was planning to excavate a portion of his yard to install a new drainage pipe and wanted to know where the gas line, in addition to any other utilities that were in the proposed area for the excavation were located. The analyst was able to trace out and locate the gas line, the power running to his automated gate, and some other anomalies that were found using the GSSI Utility Cart. The analyst was also able to determine the direction of the homeowners existing sewer pipe by using fishing tape to trace out a portion of the cleanout that was sticking out of the ground in the excavation area. Pink paint was used for unknown objects (anomalies), red for power, yellow for gas and green for sewer. The Houston based analyst was able to locate all power and gas lines with Electromagnetic Detection by using the RD 7100 and confirmed his findings with GPR. The customer was pleased as he had previously thought there would not be any utilities in the proposed area to be excavated, but when surveyed it was discovered several utilities were in fact right in the path of the excavation. The excavation was completed without any issues because all utilities were marked and identified before digging.
Locate underground septic tank for private residential property
At a private residence in League City, TX, a homeowner needed to locate the septic tank in the property’s pool house. Penhall Technologies was able to find the tank so the customer could repair it and complete everything in time to use their pool for the summer.
Ground penetrating radar used to locate underground water pipes
A non-profit youth facility called Penhall Technologies to help locate and mark subsurface PVC water lines on their property. Our GPR analysts scanned a of 150 x 100 foot area to locate the lines and help determine if any leaks existed.
Find all utilities underneath concrete slab before saw cutting and trenching
A chemical plant in Channelview, TX needed to locate and mark all utilities under a concrete slab in preparation for our saw cutting and trenching a 10′ x 10′ x 6″ area. Our analyst used ground penetrating radar to scan a 25′ x 25′ foot area area to ensure that there no utilities would be damaged.
