Los Angeles Concrete Scanning Projects that Penhall Worked On
Concrete scanning to evaluate structural integrity
Penhall Technologies worked at a project in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. Our customer needed to evaluate the structural integrity of an older parking structure. In this instance, the customer wanted to know the number and depth of dowels in the concrete and wall. The image shows both rebar and dowels markings on the concrete.
Concrete scanning before planned trenching at LAX
A construction company hired Penhall Technologies for an ongoing project in Los Angeles CA. This particular job was at terminal 4 at the LAX airport. The client needed to scan before trenching. The customer requested the analyst to only mark out conduit. The analyst performed the scan using GPR in conjunction with the RD7000.
Penhall Technologies identifies safe areas to core
Penhall Technologies was hired at a project in Los Angeles for concrete scanning. The service was in preparation for core drill work to upgrade tenements for apartment residents. The analyst who performed the scanning noticed that the area was very congested with embedments. He had to scan carefully to identify all objects. This ensures the customer avoided all embedments while directing the location of the proposed cores. The analyst used a Hilti PS 1000 to scan, and it showed rebar and multiple conduits. By having GPR scanning completed on this project, it allowed the customer to identify clear areas to core, saving them time and money and keeping everyone safe!
Concrete scanning performed on a regular basis for one large project in downtown los angeles
For an ongoing project with a large general contracting company at an up and coming luxury high rise condominium construction site in downtown Los Angeles, Penhall Technologies had yet another scanning project to add to the many scan jobs at this particular site over the past year. In this case, the general contractor needed to relocate dowels for rebar, to erect a CMU structure in an outdoor garden area. Before drilling they needed to locate rebar and any conduits that were in the slab. The analyst used a GSSI Mini XT, a Hilti PS1000 and a RD7000 (radio detection device that picks up live electric) to perform the scan. Penhall makes use of different tools to ensure better accuracy on each project.
Ground penetrating radar equipment used to identify hazards before cutting
Penhall went out to a location in Hollywood, CA to do some concrete scanning using Ground Penetrating Radar. We successfully identified any hazards and avoided them before cutting into concrete.
Locating electrical conduit within a concrete slab
As you may know, all hospitals require scanning before doing anything at all to the concrete in the building. So, it was a good idea for a medical center located in Los Angeles, CA to hire Penhall to complete a scanning. Here, our analysts were able to locate and mark conduit before cutting into the concrete.
Using GPR to locate rebar and conduit in CMU wall
At a jobsite in Los Angeles, CA, we scanned a CMU wall to locate any obstructions. This included structural reinforcements and any utilities, in two areas before coring 12″ x 6′ holes.
Rebar and any obstructions in concrete are accurately marked
Our analyst used ground penetrating radar scanning at a site in Los Angeles, CA to examine two different 33′ x 33′ areas. Penhall performed the concrete scanning in order to avoid rebar before having 4″ to 6″ diameter cores drilled.
