In this instance, the customer wanted to know the number and depth of dowels in the concrete and wall. The image shows both rebar and dowels markings on the concrete.

The analyst who performed the scanning noticed that the area was very congested with embedments. He had to scan carefully to identify all objects. In this case, the general contractor needed to relocate dowels for rebar, to erect a CMU structure in an outdoor garden area. Before drilling they needed to locate rebar and any conduits that were in the slab. The analyst used a GSSI Mini XT, a Hilti PS1000 and a RD7000 (radio detection device that picks up live electric) to perform the scan. Penhall makes use of different tools to ensure better accuracy on each project.
