Penhall Technologies was hired at a project in Los Angeles for concrete scanning. The service was needed to complete core drill work to upgrade tenements for apartment residents. The analyst who performed the scanning noticed that the area being scanned was very congested with embedments. The analyst had to scan very carefully to identify all objects to ensure the customer avoided all embedments while directing the location of the proposed cores. The scanning was done with a Hilti PS 1000 and it showed rebar and multiple conduits. By having GPR scanning completed on this project, it allowed the customer to identify clear areas to core, saving them time and money and keeping everyone safe!

concrete scanning in los angeles, caFor an ongoing project with a large general contracting company at an up and coming luxury high rise condominium construction site in downtown Los Angeles, Penhall Technologies had yet another scanning project to add to the many scan jobs at this particular site over the past year. In this case, the general contractor needed to relocate dowels for rebar, to erect a CMU structure in an outdoor garden area. Before drilling they needed to locate rebar and any conduits that were in the slab. This work was performed using a GSSI Mini XT, a Hilti PS1000 and a RD7000 (radio detection device that picks up live electric). Penhall makes use of different tools to ensure better accuracy on each project.
