Maui Concrete Scanning Projects that Penhall Worked On

Concrete wall scanning is done to locate rebar and post tension cable

Scanning concrete wall for rebar and post tension cableA client in Wailuku, HI, asked Penhall Technolgoies to locate and mark all obstructions within a concrete slab. They were looking for hazards such as conduit, post-tension cables, and rebar. The scanning took place prior to cutting three 30” x30” openings through 12” concrete wall, as well as drill three 6” cores.

Use Ground penetrating radar to ensure safety before core drilling

Scan concrete slab for rebar before drilling holesPenhall was asked to perform concrete scanning services at a Wailuku state office building. The client wanted to ensure it was safe to drill 12 – 1.5” cores in a the 5” suspended concrete slab. The locations included three balconies, with four proposed cores on each. At the end, the analysts marked all underground hazards and the client completed the project safely.

Locate and identify any obstructions in the concrete slab before installing anchor bolts

Identify obstructions in concrete using GPRA five-star hotel in Kaanapali called Penhall Technologies for concrete scanning. They wanted our analysts to scan and mark any obstructions in concrete slabs. The client needed to scan in preparation for placement of anchor bolts.

Scan concrete columns to locate vertical rebar and rings

Scan columns to locate vertical rebar and ringsAt a location in Maui, we were asked to scan (8) columns for vertical rebar and rings.  The areas that the analysts scanned were 8-10 feet high and 2 feet wide per each column. This particular job all occurred on a scissor lift.

Find pre-stress cables and identify their patterns with GPR

Ground penetrating radar to scan for pre-stress cablesIn Maui, a customer hired us to perform concrete scanning. The job consisted of a 150 ft area through a 6 inch plank with pre-stress cables and a 5 inch topping.  Our analyst used ground penetrating radar to locate any utilities. The equipment that he used was the Mini HR., After the scanning, he found post tension cables. He marked the pattern accordingly.
