Salt Lake City Concrete Scanning Projects that Penhall Worked On

Scan concrete before coring holes for drains

Salt Lake City Concrete ScanningPenhall Technologies scanned a post-tensioned elevated slab at a senior living community in Salt Lake City, UT. The management of the community wanted to add a new area in the parking garage. This would allow residents to let their pets play in a contained area. To do this, they had to core a hole for a new drain and wanted to scan for rebar and PT cable. Our analyst identified all hazards and coring went off without problems.

Ground penetrating radar used to locate obstructions before concrete core drilling

ground penetrating radar used to locate obstructions before core drilling in concretePenhall Technologies was recently hired for concrete scanning at a location in Salt Lake City. Our analysts performed ground penetrating radar (GPR) services to locate any possible hazards in the proposed area. They used the GSSI Mini XT  to complete the scanning. The client wanted the area examined for obstructions before he was set to perform a 6” core drill into the area being scanned. The coring was intended for access to the Walker Duct underfloor duct.

Locate rebar and post tension cables by concrete scanning

Concrete scanning to find rebar and locate post tension cablesPenhall Technolgies was called at a job site in Salt Lake City, UT. Penhall Technologies’ analysts were requested to scan prior to the client drilling 3″ cores in six areas of an 8″ concrete wall.  Upon scanning, the analysts found rebar and post tension cable in the area. This was a clear obstruction to the client and his project, so the analysts made clear markings on the concrete based on the data that they examined. This ensures that the client is aware of areas where is safe to drill into concrete.

Concrete scanning for renovation projects

Penhall Technologies was asked to locate post-tension cable, rebar, and plumbing lines for a local hotel remodel.  The job consisted on multiple wall and floor scans in the parking garage and suspended slab inside the bathrooms. The analysts scanned the floors and walls in the bathrooms, and successfully located utility lines as well as post tension cable. These were marked in red. The customer requested the marking of hazards only inside the hotel. In the parking garage, the analysts marked the rebar and post tension cable found. All scans were done with the GSSI Mini XT and HR. The customer was very satisfied with our scanning services, and all hazards were avoided during his project.
