PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Wofford College is a private liberal arts college located in the Northwest corner of South Carolina. Founded in 1854, the college is one of just a few colleges in the United States founded prior to the start of the Civil War. Penhall Company was hired to complete demolition and concrete cutting work for Wofford College’s Burwell Dining Hall, the largest dining hall on the campus.

  • Demo and Remove first floor CMU walls
  • Demo entire front entrance including glass storefront, entry stairs, and steel substructure
  • Saw cut and remove elevated slab openings for new stairs, elevator, and dumbwaiters

The main demo and breaking was done with a Husqvarna DXR 140, Mini Excavator with breaker and bucket, Midi Excavator, and Full size Excavator. To saw cut, we employed a 10k Lull, 60′ articulating man lift, 5000 flat saw, and two bobcats.

The project was really a team effort, led by meticulous interior demotion and efficient project management. With great teamwork we managed to finish the demo and saw cutting on schedule and on budget.
