CalTrans District #2 Interstate 5 Bridge

Location: Sacramento, CA
Service: Core Drilling, Wire Saw, Removal, Bridge Demo
Completion: October 2017

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Wire Saw five (5) remaining bridge piers that we left in place following the implosion of the superstructure Piers were 150’ tall x 40’ long x 10’ wide. The wire saw removal limits were at mudline, 105’ deep underwater. Wire sawing underwater eliminated the time and expense of cofferdams and dewatering required for conventional underwater demolition. Core drill rigging hole and wire sawed piers into 6’ vertical lift sections weighing approx. 25 tons per pick Completed project in seven (7) months incident and injury free. Note – I am still gathering the total wire saw quantities and core drill quantities.

Wire sawing underwater eliminated the time and expense of cofferdams and dewatering required for conventional underwater demolition.
